Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering started in 1994 with an intake of 60 students. Subsequently the intake of the branch was enhanced to 90 students in the year 2002-2003. From the A.Y. 2004-05, the intake of the branch was enhanced to 120 with a lateral entry of 10% in the second year. So far, 10 batches have graduated from the department. Presently there are 276(II yr 73, III yr 66, IV yr 137) students on rolls including the lateral entry. The department has established seven core labs in electrical engineering and an ultra modern computer center with 34 latest PENTIUM DUAL CORE and a SERVER. All the systems are networked and provided with un-interrupted power supply. 10 systems are provided with internet facility having latest versions of PSCAD, ETAP and Matlab licensed softwares with an expenditure of Rs.67,01,473/-.
The department consists of 4 well-furnished classrooms, 2 staff room, and HODs room and department library. The total area of the department is 2460Sq meters.The department presently consists of 22 teaching staff members of which 6 are pursuing Ph.D in the area of power system,power electronics and controls in AU ∓ JNTU.Several staff members have published national and international level papers in various conferences and journals. HOD.,Prof. Shyam Mohan S. Palli is a co-Author of text books in Networks and Circuits published by Tata Mcgrahill,New Delhi which are very popular with JNTU; Anna University and Visweswaraya Technological University.
A well furnished department library with various journals and textbooks, question papers and material required for students to refer are made available in the library. Our students are sent for in-plant training not less than 1 month in the summer and winter holidays. Apart from these busy activities we have a student organization called CRRAZE-SIR C R REDDY ASSOCIATION FOR ZOOMING ELECTRICALS which conducts various activities which makes the students to grow in person and to exhibit their hidden talents. Workshops and seminars are conducted regularly by the department to make the students update their knowledge and to grow technically by eminent people from industries and academic institutions. Department conducts a national level paper contest every year. Our studentshave achieved good academic results and are good positions positions in various organizations and institutions
